Why Hello There!

Long time no post right?

We're all still alive and kicking, just tired, and busy...and did I mention tired. I'm guessing updates on the girls are in order.

Maeve is 2.5 now and showing every bit of her age. I've said that having a two year old is sort of like living with a very short and unmedicated mental patient. There's a reason we call Maeve our "rapid cycler"! One minute she's happy and then next she throwing herself down on the floor in a fit of drama. She'll say to us "I'm fresh to you" (and she's right) and then a few minutes later, she's wrapping her arms around you, sighing into your neck, and saying "I love you so much". She's been making steady progress in terms of potty training, but like so much with Maeve, she'll do it all on her terms and that's it, there's no middle ground. Most of our friends don't believe us about her tempermental ways, because she becomes ridiculously charming and engaging whenever we are in public or meet up with friends.

She is still as active as ever. She is definitely our rough and tumble girl. With summer in the air, Maeve literally seems like she is full of bruises and scratches from hip to ankle, but rarely complains and takes each fall in stride. Her play has also become more involved and she will often engage in some sort of drawn out imaginary play by herself, or watch a cooking show on the Food Network and then mimic what she saw. She mostly loves her sister, but does struggle on some days with sharing attention with her.

As for Isla, that kid loves her mama! At least lately, where she won't accept anyone else for nighttime comforting and fusses if I'm in the room with her but not holding her. She is also the grabbiest 5 month old ever. Whatever we're holding is not safe, and she'll accept anything we have to offer. She's rolling over all the time now, and manages to pivot herself in a circle to get around. She also thinks she old enough and big enough to squirm off someone's lap by herself. She shrieks and screetches constantly, and LOVES her sister. Whatever Maeve does is funny to her. She's got fantastic rolly poly thighs and cheeks to spare. And while I have joked that her birthmark is really a devil's horn that never fully developed, she is a sweet little girl.

And pics have been updated...finally.
