Uhh, long time no post?

Yeah Yeah Yeah, it's been more than 6 months since there was anything more than a symbolic post.  I apologize.

It's just with the two kids and the jobs and the lack of sleep, well, I kind of forgot I had a blog?

All I can promise is that I *might* be better about posting pictures and an occasional post...maybe.

Here's a quick update to satisfy whoever might still be reading this blog.

Maeve is 3.5 years old, and going on 16.  She is full of spunk and more attitude than most middle schoolers.  She's also still quite the little charmer who manages to make friends wherever she goes.  She is totally into princesses, dancing, bike riding, learning her letters, and learning how to write her name and the name of anyone else she's ever met.

And then there is Isla, who after 15 months of not sleeping, was found to have allergies significant enough to affect her sleeping and too many other aspects of her personality.  And now that we have those under control, her personality has completely blossomed into the sweetest, if not at times aggressive, little girl.  She likes to hug and kiss, but she's also a brute and can already take Maeve down.  She's learning words and refusing new foods like nobody's business.

So yeah, if you don't hear from me again until another half year has passed, don't take it personally.

Why Hello There!

Long time no post right?

We're all still alive and kicking, just tired, and busy...and did I mention tired. I'm guessing updates on the girls are in order.

Maeve is 2.5 now and showing every bit of her age. I've said that having a two year old is sort of like living with a very short and unmedicated mental patient. There's a reason we call Maeve our "rapid cycler"! One minute she's happy and then next she throwing herself down on the floor in a fit of drama. She'll say to us "I'm fresh to you" (and she's right) and then a few minutes later, she's wrapping her arms around you, sighing into your neck, and saying "I love you so much". She's been making steady progress in terms of potty training, but like so much with Maeve, she'll do it all on her terms and that's it, there's no middle ground. Most of our friends don't believe us about her tempermental ways, because she becomes ridiculously charming and engaging whenever we are in public or meet up with friends.

She is still as active as ever. She is definitely our rough and tumble girl. With summer in the air, Maeve literally seems like she is full of bruises and scratches from hip to ankle, but rarely complains and takes each fall in stride. Her play has also become more involved and she will often engage in some sort of drawn out imaginary play by herself, or watch a cooking show on the Food Network and then mimic what she saw. She mostly loves her sister, but does struggle on some days with sharing attention with her.

As for Isla, that kid loves her mama! At least lately, where she won't accept anyone else for nighttime comforting and fusses if I'm in the room with her but not holding her. She is also the grabbiest 5 month old ever. Whatever we're holding is not safe, and she'll accept anything we have to offer. She's rolling over all the time now, and manages to pivot herself in a circle to get around. She also thinks she old enough and big enough to squirm off someone's lap by herself. She shrieks and screetches constantly, and LOVES her sister. Whatever Maeve does is funny to her. She's got fantastic rolly poly thighs and cheeks to spare. And while I have joked that her birthmark is really a devil's horn that never fully developed, she is a sweet little girl.

And pics have been updated...finally.

It's Naptime...

... so in a moment of silence I am attempting a blog post. Obviously with two little girls, the days of monthly or even bi-monthly blog posts are probably over, at least for the time being. But I am doing my best to update pictures on a somewhat regular basis. Until Grandma and Grandpa Udvardi get here for their 6 month stay, we are on our own. With the exception of the two days a week that Maeve goes to daycare, we don't get a break, so blogging has fallen to the wayside. Sorry 'bout that.

Isla is now just over 7 weeks and growing like a weed. Seriously, the kid loves to eat and just keeps growing and growing. The newborn clothes were put away several weeks ago and she is solidly wearing size 3 months. Her double chin and thigh rolls are well established. Her first month was punctuated by some fussiness, but that seems to have passed and she gives us a lot of smiles and is already cooing. Another happy baby maybe?

And Maeve is most definitely in her terrible 2's. While she is still very engaging and friendly, Ash and I often refer to her as a 'rapid-cycler" due to her resembling a very short and unmedicated mental patient. Of course she is still a lot of fun and absolutely adorable, but her "spirited" nature can be exhausting. Her language is growing in leaps and bounds and it's hard not to laugh when you remind her it's time to go potty and her response is "No, I'm too busy". Her Opa has referred to it as being precocious!

Gotta go, Isla is awake and voicing her displeasure!

Isla Mary Morris

We're sorry about the delay in posting, both in general, and about Isla's birth. The holidays and being 9 months pregnant caused a good bit of distraction...oops.

Isla Mary Morris (pronounced Eye-lah) was born in the wee hours of the morning, at 4:07 a.m., on January 20, 2011. After several days of prodromal labor, she finally decided to make her appearance a week early, just like her big sister. Weighing in at a hefty 8lbs, 6oz, she's still a little peanut, and we are enjoying her very much. So far, she seems pretty mellow, and is sleeping and eating well, going through many diapers a day, and is a wonderful snuggler. Maeve (so far) adores her, and loves to give her hugs and kisses, calls her "my baby", and wonders where she is when out of sight.

Our Christmas was wonderful and busy, with Grandma and Grandpa (Bop), Nana, and Uncle Jason in town. Maeve received many wonderful gifts. She's growing up so fast, it amazes us. She's doing great with her potty training, talking up a storm, and continues to have this delightfully friendly and engaging personality, while also being extremely willful and stubborn. She cracks us up everyday with the things she says and the faces she makes.

We're starting to get the hang of parenting two children and are very tired, but very happy, and looking forward to watching these two girls grow up.
